[19:07]<@Calum> Ah
[19:07]<@jacky> choo
[19:08]<@Calum> Hah
[19:08]<@jacky> >g<
[19:08]<@jacky> good afternoon (evening)
[19:08]<@Calum> I was concerned for Chanbot's welfare...who else is camerongray going to say hello to instead of me?
[19:08]<@Calum> Good evening (afternoon) also!
[19:08]<@jacky> har
[19:08]<+camerongray> haha, hey Calum
[19:08]<+camerongray> YES, I DID IT!
[19:08]<+camerongray> Oh, and jacky :P
[19:08]<@Calum> Bards shall sing of this day
[19:09]<+camerongray> How's things?
[19:09]<@Calum> Pretty good thanks, yourself?
[19:09]<+camerongray> Good, busy :P
[19:10]<@Calum> Tell me about it
[19:10]<@jacky> camerongray and Calum: aLLamoox is somebody that I know from various eggdrop bot relate chans
[19:10]<+camerongray> In the middle of dissertation writing :P http://imgur.com/tzLcCDm
[19:10]<@jacky> and
[19:10]<@jacky> he asked me something about web pages for shell users
[19:10]<@jacky> or something
[19:10]<+camerongray> I say "in the middle" - Nowhere near the middle yet :P
[19:11]<@jacky> that I know just about zero about
[19:11]<@jacky> so.. I told him to come here, and ask, and hang around until somebody was here
[19:11]<+camerongray> Cool
[19:11]<@jacky> maybe you two can comment, if he happnes to ask?
[19:11]<+camerongray> aLLamoox: If you are using apache you'd be best to use mod_userdir: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_userdir.html
[19:11]<@Calum> camerongray: looks pretty impressive to me
[19:11]<aLLamoox> camerongray: Thank you very much!
[19:11]<+camerongray> That'll let each user put their files in ~/public_html and access them at http://example.com/~username/
[19:12]<+camerongray> Calum: thanks
[19:12]<+camerongray> I just need to remember how to write properly :P
[19:12]<@Calum> Heh, yeah, I have got out of the habit and all of sudden need to write documentation for things, I'm like...how do I English
[19:13]<+camerongray> Yeah
[19:13]<@jacky> Ah duz engrish reel gud
[19:13]<+camerongray> I did however get a C in Higher English at school so I can clearly England reel good

[19:14]<@Calum> :)
[19:16]<+camerongray> I presume I should be starting this off with "Hi my name is Cameron and in this essay I will be writing about computers" :P
[19:17]<@Calum> Hah, yes
[19:18]<@Calum> That's how some of my documentation starts off basically..."This document will provide a framework for troubleshoot a computer that isn't performing well" - apparently it actually does need spelling out
[19:18]<@Calum> Despite the document being called "How to troubleshoot a slow computer"
[19:18]<aLLamoox> camerongray: Can I offer you a free shell in my server
[19:18]<@Calum> And I need lots of pretty pictures
[19:18]<+camerongray> aLLamoox: Thanks for the offer although I don't really have a need - I already have far too many servers :P
[19:19]<aLLamoox> Please If you needed one any time just msg me'
[19:20]<+camerongray> Cool
[19:21]<+camerongray> Calum: Where is it you're working now?
[19:21]<@Calum> camerongray: www.synectics-solutions.com
[19:21]<@jacky> camerongray: so if your synetic is broken, Calum has the solution for you
[19:21]<@Calum> Indeed
[19:21]<+camerongray> haha!
[19:21]<@Calum> We synecticise ALL the solutions
[19:21]<@Calum> or something
[19:22]<@jacky> geez.. UK... it is synecticize .. with a Z ... no wonder you can't synect things properly!
[19:29]<+camerongray> haha
[19:48] * Calum (Calum@mib-1A0D3BF4.plus.com) Quit (Connection reset by peer)
[19:48]<@jacky> Calum did the ol' : " hey man... what's this button do? "
[19:49]<+camerongray> hehehe
[19:49]<Guest56852> I thought Toner was supposed to last forever
[19:49] * Guest56852 is now known as BC_Programming
[19:49] * ChanServ sets mode: +a
[19:49] * ChanServ sets mode: +o BC_Programming
[19:50]<@BC_Programming> and yet I'm almost out of black, madness
[19:50]<@jacky> Toner ?
[19:50]<@jacky> oh.. notthing to do with Calum's connection
[19:50]<@jacky> which didn't last forever
[19:50]<@jacky> heheeh
[19:51]<@BC_Programming> heh "I need more power, surely that is what this button labelled 'Power' Will do"
[19:51]<@jacky> that's similar to R is for race, on the shifter of your car
[19:51] * Calum (Calum@mib-1A0D3BF4.plus.com) has joined #glitchpc

[19:52]<@jacky>
[19:52]<@jacky> <@jacky> Calum did the ol' : " hey man... what's this button do? "
[19:52]<@jacky>
[19:52]<@Calum> *sigh* internet died
[19:52]<@jacky> likely excuse
[19:52]<@Calum> hah
[19:52]<@jacky> now ask BC what HE said about you.....
[19:52]<@jacky> heh
[19:53]<@BC_Programming> "I need more power, surely that is what this button labelled 'Power' Will do"
[19:53]<@jacky> there is a secret to using that button though
[19:53]<@jacky> don't press it gently
[19:53]<@Calum> moar power
[19:53]<@jacky> you can use your Ram Hammer to give it a good whack
[19:54]<@BC_Programming> In a pinch you can install a RAM Stick with a Clue Bat.
[19:55]<@jacky> now that is a good idea!
[19:56]<@BC_Programming> Now this is the Clue Bat of the smacking variety, not the flying rodent sort, those are only useful for riddles
[19:57]<@jacky> I've riddled a few Clue bats in my time. Hard to hit though. when you lead them too much, they can turn quickly
[19:58]<@BC_Programming> And if you aren't careful you might enter a cave with the wrong type of bat. I've had my share of Glue Bats
[19:58]<@jacky> oooh... did it stick to your shoe?
[19:59]<@BC_Programming> No, I got Glue Bat on my Clue bat
[19:59]<@jacky> are you sure??
[19:59]<@BC_Programming> no
[20:00]<@jacky> unsure gloobat and unsure cluebat? you are having a bad day, huh?
[20:03]<@BC_Programming> At least Toner is cheaper than I expected
[20:03]<@BC_Programming> $25 or two cartridges, how the heck
[20:03]<@BC_Programming> for*
[20:03]<+camerongray> haha, not bad!
[20:04]<@jacky> old used empty cartridges?
[20:04]<@jacky> or nice, new, shiny, full cartridges?
[20:04]<+camerongray> Almost as crazy as my laptop screen - from the same seller it was £150 for one screen or £140 for two
[20:04]<@BC_Programming> I wouldn't expect amazon to sell empty cartridges but I suppose that remains to be seen...
[20:04]<+camerongray> Lets just say, it's a good job I bought two
[20:05]<@jacky> wanna buy an empty cartridge?
[20:05]<@Calum> oh, speaking of laptops, camerongray you would approve, bought myself a rather cheap Lenovo X201 the other week - £75 including a 128GB SSD, and it even works
[20:05]<+camerongray> ooh nice!
[20:05]<@BC_Programming> The toner did last over a year so I suppose it was better than Ink
[20:05]<+camerongray> The x201 is a decent machine, I used to have one
[20:05]<+camerongray> Along with an x220, x230, t440s and another t440s :P
[20:06]<@Calum> I just wanted something small and light, I have an old HP from my last job (not stolen) with a very nice 1920x1200 screen, but the CPU is just too slow for most things these days
[20:06]<@BC_Programming> t550 here mwa haha
[20:06]<@Calum> it also weighed 2 tons
[20:06]<+camerongray> I've replaced far too much of my laptop
[20:06]<@BC_Programming> Theseus Thinkpad?
[20:06]<@jacky> BC_Programming: just curious, and a serious question: if you don't use a printer like that for a while, does the toner gunk up? you know.. like ink does if you don't use it every so often?
[20:06]<+camerongray> 2nd palmrest, 3rd screen, 3rd keyboard, 2nd touchpad, 2nd main battery
[20:06]<@Calum> Nearly got a rather nice Asus laptop with a quad core i7 from a guy at work, but then I found out how to fix it and told him for some reason instead of just keeping it quiet
[20:07]<@BC_Programming> jacky: I don't think so, though I'm not sure how long it's gone without use
[20:07]<+camerongray> I sort of did this to it: http://imgur.com/a/WSRtj
[20:07]<@jacky> BC_Programming: cool. that's a printer that is more like a copy machine, right?
[20:07]<@Calum> I have a Dell laser printer which gets used about every 6 months, it hasn't gunked up as yet
[20:07]<@BC_Programming> It's probably been unised for at least two weeks though- though it's been plugged in most of the time
[20:07]<@Calum> camerongray: good work!
[20:07]<@jacky> by "laser printer" you mean one that uses toner, not ink - right?
[20:08]<@Calum> Indeed
[20:08]<@jacky> ok
[20:08]<+camerongray> I was at Prewired (https://www.prewired.org/) showing one of the kids something on my laptop then somehow managed to drop it so it landed perfectly on the corner of the screen and palmrest
[20:08]<@BC_Programming> jacky: Yeah, they work more like copy machines internally. Mine can copy directly though can't spit out pages as fast as a copier
[20:09]<+camerongray> Slyly picked it up and hid it before the kids noticeed I'd broken it :P
[20:09]<@Calum> That's one of the advantages of laser vs inkjet. I mean, I'm sure it'd gunk up eventually, but...thinking about it we had a big workgroup-style printer at my old job which sat in a garage for a year unused, which still worked when we fired it up, no gunking up
[20:09]<@jacky> BC_Programming: but only black and white, no color.. right?
[20:09]<@Calum> camerongray: Hah, excellent
[20:09]<+camerongray> "It's a ThinkPad, it'll be fine" as I'm squeezing it to clip the screen back into the top case
[20:09]<+camerongray> And in fairness, it was fine apart from the screen
[20:09]<@BC_Programming> jacky: Mine is color, uses 4 toner cartridges
[20:09]<@jacky> ah.
[20:09]<@jacky> ok
[20:10]<@jacky> sounds expensive to feed
[20:10]<+camerongray> And I mean, I could have still used it, it was just the glass that was cracked
[20:10]<@Calum> Ah yeah
[20:10]<@BC_Programming> I'm only out of black, still 80% for all the colors atm
[20:10]<@jacky> ok
[20:10] * aLLamoox (aLLamoox@mib-484B25BB.ias.bredband.telia.com) Quit (Client exited)
[20:10]<@BC_Programming> and unlike inkjet printers they can be replaced individually
[20:10]<@jacky> so play with the keys and print like this
[20:10]<+camerongray> Now I try not to run around holding my laptop in one hand :P
[20:11]<@Calum> Yeah, that tends to work better!
[20:11]<+camerongray> Use it to teach the kids a lesson "and that is why you don't run with laptops"
[20:12]<+camerongray> They aren't meant to have drinks at their laptops for obvious reasons, us mentors tend to forget - Took a glass of water over to my laptop and managed to spill it all over it. "See kids, this is why we say not to take drinks near the laptops"
[20:13]<@jacky> user drier water
[20:13]<@jacky> easy
[20:13]<@Calum> Learning from the master
[20:13]<+camerongray> haha
[20:13]<@BC_Programming> Water is probably the best thing to spill though to be fair
[20:13]<+camerongray> Yeah, thankfully
[20:13]<@jacky> yep. not sticky
[20:14]<+camerongray> Yeah, could have been orange juice, mustn't have had any that week
[20:15]<+camerongray> I'm still surprised, and I know I'm jinxing it but in the 2.5 years we've been running, none of the kids have broken one of our laptops
[20:19]<@BC_Programming> I still haven't built the gift build, hooray only a week left of resisting
[20:38]<+Craig> What was it that caused the issue with 1.8 Jacky?
[20:39]<@jacky> there you are.. :)
[20:39]<@jacky> see email
[20:39]<@jacky> and, I'm just about to send second one, right now
[20:39]<@jacky> second email sent
[20:39]<@jacky> brb.. 2 or 3 min... while you read
[20:39]<+Craig> Oh ok
[20:50] * aLLamoox (aLLamoox@mib-484B25BB.ias.bredband.telia.com) has joined #glitchpc
[20:50]<aLLamoox> camerongray: are u around
[20:50]<+camerongray> For a bit yeah
[20:52]<aLLamoox> I dont understand anything from the documentation u sent me
[20:52]<aLLamoox> xD
[20:52]<aLLamoox> how can I know which serviceI use
[20:52]<aLLamoox> daemon i mean
[20:53]<aLLamoox> like apache or a different one
[20:53]<+camerongray> Well, you would have had to install it
[20:53]<+camerongray> If you are running shells you really should know what software you are running
[20:54]<aLLamoox> I know
[21:00]<+camerongray> So you would need to install Apache and configure it to use mod_userdir - It won't be a quick thing to learn but offering shell accounts on a system where you don't know fully how it's configured is just asking for trouble
[21:32] * Calum (Calum@mib-1A0D3BF4.plus.com) Quit (Quit: )
[21:40]<aLLamoox> U
[21:40]<aLLamoox> im learning camerongray
[21:40]<aLLamoox> trying to at least
[21:40]<aLLamoox> thank you mate
[21:41]<aLLamoox> but its too late now so i continous tomorrow , thanks again and good night all

[23:27]<@BC_Programming> haha... my light exploded
[23:27]<@BC_Programming> I expected more from the esteemed ChiChinLighting
[23:38]<+Craig> :P
[23:38]<+Craig> LED?
[23:38]<@BC_Programming> Yeh
[23:38]<@BC_Programming> yeah*
[23:39]<@BC_Programming> the capacitors dry out from the heat and then they blow up
